Mikel Arteta says defender Riccardo Calafiori will be out “for a few weeks” with a knee injury.
The Italian international sustained the injury in Arsenal’s Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk and then missed the Premier League draw with Liverpool on Sunday.
And asked for an update on his fitness, Arteta said: “He will be out for a few weeks I would say.”
But fellow defenders Gabriel and Jurrien Timber are expected to make quick recoveries.
Asked about Gabriel, who was taken off with a knock against Liverpool, Arteta said: “We are still assessing him. It doesn’t look bad at all. It was much better the next day. He has done some tests.
And on Timber, who was also replaced in the 2-2 draw, the Gunners boss added: “Jurrien is fine. He has been out for a while. He was tired, he could not continue the game.”
Martin Odegaard, meanwhile, is continuing his recovery from an ankle injury which has kept him out for most of the season.
“He’s been on the grass for a few weeks but there is still a few boxes to tick,” Arteta said.
“Hopefully he’ll be back before the international break.”
