Marcus Rashford’s potential arrival at Aston Villa is expected not to do any favours to Arsenal in their chase for Ollie Watkins, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Gunners have been looking to do some business to bring in a forward in this window to address their striker issues.
Despite having issues scoring goals regularly, the Gunners made a late move last week to try to bring in Watkins.
The north Londoners have had a bid worth £60m rejected by the Villa Park outfit though, with Villa opposed to selling.
Jhon Duran’s departure to Saudi outfit Al Nassr has reduced Arsenal’s chances of signing Watkins as Aston Villa do not have another proper backup in that position.
Manchester United star Rashford is closing in on a deal to join Unai Emery’s side, but that is not expected to increase Arsenal’s chances in their Watkins race.
The Red Devils attacker prefers playing as a winger and his arrival is highly unlikely to see Villa sanction a departure of Watkins, who has scored ten league goals already.
All eyes will be on Arsenal now to see if they will try to test the Villans’ stance about Watkins with an eye-watering offer before Monday night.
