Jakub Kiwior could leave Arsenal for a good offer this summer, possibly even on loan, but only with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Jakub Kiwior could leave Arsenal for a good offer this summer, with Riccardo Calafiori close to joining from Serie A club Bologna.

Romano claims there’s even the possibility for an initial loan deal, but only if it includes a mandatory purchase clause.

Italian clubs are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation, but they’re yet to submit any official offers to Arsenal at this stage.

Simon Jones reports for the Daily Mail that Arsenal are indeed open to offers for Kiwior, as they push to finalise a deal for Calafiori.

Like Kiwior, Calafiori is a left-footed left-centre-back who can also play at left-back. The two do appear to have very similar profiles in that sense, so if Arsenal are investing heavily in Calafiori, it does raise questions about their plans for Kiwior.

On the other hand, Arsenal weren’t exactly brimming with potential alternatives to starting centre-backs Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba last season.

The Gunners were fortunate that Gabriel and Saliba were fit for pretty much the entire 2023/24 campaign, so they won’t want to cut their defensive options for the sake of it.

Kiwior reportedly remains a player trusted by Mikel Arteta, and the club aren’t desperate to move him on. He has a contract until 2028, so as Romano suggests, it would take a good offer.

Given Arsenal’s history with bids from Serie A, the chances that they actually get a fair offer this summer aren’t particularly great.
