Arsenal have taken up the option to extend the contract of first-choice goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger by a further year.

Zinsberger is in her fourth season with Arsenal after joining the club on a free transfer ahead of the 2019/2020 campaign. The Austrian international is well on her way to chalking up 100 appearances in all competitions for The Gunners while she won her first trophy with the club earlier this month as Arsenal defeated Chelsea in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup final. The player is thought to be enjoying life in North London and she will therefore be pleased to officially be staying with the club until the end of the 2023/2024 campaign.

Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall has built a very strong goalkeeping union. Zinsberger faces some stern competition for her place from the likes of Kaylan Marckese and Sabrina D’Angelo. The Austrian international is challenged to keep on performing to her very highest levels to have the best chance of retaining her place in the side.

Zinsberger could make her latest Arsenal appearance against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final tie in Germany on Tuesday evening.
