According to RMC Sport, Nuno Tavares (23) is keen on a return to Olympique de Marseille. The Portuguese full-back is a target for Les Phocéens following Renan Lodi’s move to Al-Hilal earlier in January.

Marseille’s attempts to replace Lodi have proven complicated. Many players have been targeted, including Stade Rennais’ Adrien Truffert, FC Nantes’ Quentin Merlin, Stade Brestois’ Bradley Locko and RB Leipzig’s Angeliño.

Merlin’s move to OM had looked to be on the right path, however, reports now suggest that the France U21 international’s move to the Vélodrome hangs in the balance. Tavares, who spent last season on loan at Marseille club is another target. However, he too would be difficult to sign. The Portuguese international is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Arsenal, and despite being used sparingly during his loan spell, Nuno Espírito Santo is not keen to let Tavares leave midseason, whilst Arsenal did not include a recall clause in the deal.

Tavares himself wants to return to Marseille, according to RMC Sport, however, it is up to Marseille, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest to come to an agreement.
