On Wednesday, the nominations are officially unveiled for the 2024 Ballon d'Or awards.

Manchester City defender Yui Hasegawa is another in with a chance of winning the award, with the defender becoming her side's second nominee.


Caroline Graham-Hansen is another who is looking to make a strong case to win the award, having enjoyed a stellar season for FC Barcelona.

She is joined in the nominations by PSG's Tabitha Chawinga, OL's Lindsey Horan, Chelsea and Germany's Sjoeke Nüsken as well as Chelsea summer signing Lucy Bronze.


Arsenal's summer signing Mariona Caldentay is another in with a chance of winning the award. Also nominated are Lauren James, Lea Schuller and Patri Guijarro.


And FC Bayern's Gloddis Viggosdottir.


Along with Chicago Red Star attacker Mallory Swanson.


And in Italy, Roma's Manuela Giugliano has been nominated.


So too is Olympique Lyonnais ace Ada Hegerberg. She scored 12 goals in 14 top flight appearances last season.


And Manchester City and England women's star Lauren Hemp is another among the first batch of nominees....


Another NWSL player could win too, with Trinity Rodman among the nominees.

Who is Ronwen Williams?

A South African goalkeeper, Williams helped Mamelodi Sundowns FC to a domestic double as they scooped the South African league and the African league across 23/24.

The 32-year-old made 46 appearances in all competitions, keeping 30 clean sheets.


Who is Karim Konaté?

Nominated for the Kopa trophy, Konaté is a 20 year-old Ivorian striker currently playing for RB Salzburg, where the likes of Erling Haaland and Benjamin Šeško honed their skills.

He scored 20 times in the Austrian Bundesliga last season in 29 appearances, while he has already racked up 18 international caps, scoring twice in the process. He was part of the squad that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in February.

Who takes the crown?


The night begins with the Kopa trophy nominations. Gavi is the current holder of the award, and the first nominee is his teammate Pau Cubarsi.


We should be set to get the first set of nominees in the next few minutes, with the process expected to begin at 18:20 CET.


A big evening is in store. We will learn the 30 nominees for both the men's and women's individual Ballon d'Or award for the world's best player.

We will also find out who is in contention for the Kopa Trophy (for best young player), Yacine Trophy (for the best goalkeeper), the Men's Club of the Year, Women's Club of the Year.

There are also two new trophies for 2024: The Best Coach of a Men's Team and Best Coach of a Women's Team.
