Neither Aleksandr Golovin (27) nor Ismail Jakobs (24) are likely to play for AS Monaco again this season, according to the club’s manager Adi Hütter.
As reported by Get French Football News, Golovin suffered an ankle sprain in training on Wednesday. Jakobs suffered an injury during the 1-0 victory over Stade Rennais and has since undergone minor surgery on his knee. Get French Football News understands that the Senegal international will be out for several weeks, with just one month of the season remaining.
Speaking at a press conference, attended by Get French Football News on Friday, Hütter has confirmed that is likely that neither will play again this season. “It is really sad about their injuries, both were in really good shape. Jakobs, in the last few games, was fantastic. We have lots of good guys to replace them, other opportunities. Probably, both of them are out for the season but we don’t know exactly. One of them could be available for one game but probably not,” said the Monaco manager.
In better news for the Principality club, Breel Embolo could earn his first minutes since suffering an ACL injury in August against Stade Brestois on Sunday. Caio Henrique is also once again involved in first-team training. “He is not ready to play yet. Caio was included in sessions but with no contact. We are protecting him a bit. Next week, he will be fully integrated; we’ll see his development. He could be a topic in the last three or four games,” said Hütter in relation to the Brazil international.
