The last-16 phase of the 2023 Asian Cup is taking shape.
Japan could meet South Korea after only managing to come second in Group D, behind Iraq, ahead of the Koreans' finale against Malaysia on Thursday.
Such a showdown would send home one of the pre-tournament favourites in a competition that has largely avoided shocks so far.
Australia, Iran and Saudi Arabia are also into the knockouts in Qatar alongside the hosts and minnows such as Palestine, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The four best third-placed teams will join the eight automatically qualified nations in the next round.
