With the January transfer window open, Paris Saint-Germain has an opportunity to offload players who no longer fit into their plans, and Marco Asensio appears to be among them.
Since November 30, Asensio’s role at the club has significantly diminished. The former Real Madrid star lost his spot in the starting lineup and has rarely been used as a substitute. His only appearance since then came on December 6, when he played just 11 minutes against AJ Auxerre.
In 2024, Asensio has been on the bench for three of PSG’s last four Ligue 1 matches and was excluded from the squad entirely for the Coupe de France Round of 64 tie against RC Lens.
He was also an unused substitute in the Trophée des Champions against AS Monaco. These developments suggest an increasingly uncertain future for Asensio at PSG, with a departure now looking more likely.

According to Foot Mercato, Galatasaray are interested in Asensio and are aiming for a permanent transfer rather than a loan deal.
Last week, Fichajes reported that Unai Emery wants Asensio to be one of three signings the Premier League club secures before the January transfer window closes.
More recently, Marc Mechenoua of Le Parisien revealed that Aston Villa, along with other potential suitors, is interested in Asensio. While PSG has not indicated any plans to part ways with the Spanish forward, he is reportedly seeking more playing time.
Since joining PSG in 2023, the 28-year-old has made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists. Transfermarkt values him at €20 million.
