Aston Villa have confirmed that Boubacar Kamara has suffered a "significant" knee injury.
Kamara was withdrawn during his side's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Villa Park on Sunday.
The France international is now facing a spell on the sidelines which will see him ruled out for the rest of this season, with the Athletic reporting that he has ruptured his ACL.
"Aston Villa can confirm Boubacar Kamara has suffered a significant knee ligament injury," confirmed a Villa statement.
"The midfielder sustained the damage during yesterday’s fixture with Manchester United and has subsequently undergone a scan this morning.
"Kamara’s condition will be reviewed ahead of a further consultation with a knee specialist."
Unai Emery's side currently sit fifth in the Premier League table after a run of just one win from their last four outings.
