Geny Catamo joined Sporting CP in the summer of 2019 and made his first breakthrough in the 2021-22 season. However, he had to wait for a year to become a regular feature on the team sheet and fortunately, the player is going strong by all means.

Catamo has appeared across 30 games in the ongoing campaign so far, netting four goals and providing as many assists. He is averaging 1.8 shots, 0.9 key passes, and 1.3 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The winger primarily plays on the right flank but can also operate on the other side of the pitch if required. He has a strong dribbler and has effective finishing abilities. He also adds pace to the side but needs to work on his crossing accuracy.
Aston Villa’s interest in Geny Catamo is quite surprising to be honest despite the fact that they haven’t done well in this season so far. However, they already addressed the offensive line with the pursuit of Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund this month.
Hence, it’s still unclear whether the Villans will make an official move in the ongoing winter window or wait till the summer. Keeping all this aside, Catamo is a talented attacker who can add more features to his game with experience and proper guidance.
The 23-year-old can add variety and depth to the Aston Villa squad. He can be an investment for many years to come. However, Sporting CP will surely demand a reasonable fee to sanction the move and might even hesitate to offload the player in the middle of the season.
