In a recent interview with Villa News, Alan Hutton urged his former club Aston Villa to cash in on Bertrand Traore this summer. Hutton said,
“He’s (Traore) another one that could possibly move on.
“With the options they’ve got in the forward area of the pitch, Traore falls down the pecking order. He was called back from his loan last season and scored a couple of big goals.
“I always thought there was a good footballer in there but I don’t think he was consistent enough. I don’t think he did it on a regular basis. He’s in that situation where he might look to go out on loan.
“I don’t know how long is left on his contract but if they could get a fee for him and move him on and that would free up a space for Unai Emery to bring in a player he’d like to bring into the fold.”
Traore has struggled to prove his worth as a reliable performer during his time at Villa Park. However, he had a decent loan spell at Istanbul Basaksehir last season.
The Burkina Faso sensation scored three goals and grabbed one assist in 18 matches for the Turkish club in the previous campaign across multiple competitions.

Traore has got the pace to cause a few headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He can even chip in by scoring a few goals for his team. However, the Burkina Faso international has been far from convincing during his time at Aston Villa.
The 27-year-old is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player or play as a centre-forward if required. Hence, it makes sense for the Villans to cash in on Traore this summer. The West Midlands club should use the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of Unai Emery‘s match-day squad.
Traore can also benefit from a change of scenery as he looks to get his career back on track. Thus, it is only fair to the player if Emery cuts him loose before the end of this summer transfer window.
