Everything is on the upward swing for Aston Villa Women. Winners of three straight matches, their 5-2 win over Arsenal showed the rest of the WSL just how much of a force they have become under Natalia Arroyo. The potential of seeing the side under her control potentially earn a Manager of the Month, Player of the Month, and Goal of the Month illustrates just how much progress has been made.
Among the possibilities for supporters to vote for, the Villa boss is a worthy MOTM candidate. Results aside, the play on the pitch has been among the best teams in the league. Their ability to adjust within matches and present a varied amount of looks for opponents to be concerned about shows a versatile element that few are able to deal with.
Chasity Grant and Kirsty Hanson are both representing AVWFC on the list for potential Player of the Month options. Just from the games, there could have been a number of Villans who could have been included here. It's been the attack that has looked able to make life difficult for opposing backlines throughout their latest fixtures.
The right wing-back set up the winning effort against Tottenham for the substitute goal scorer. Grant then went on to score twice against Tottenham. Hanson made it three games in a row with her effort against the Gunners. In terms of making high-impact plays that directly lead to points, both of these Villa players have been as important as others on the list in the WSL.
Hanson's efforts made the Goal of the Month consideration. Her score against Spurs came in stoppage time that turned a draw into a victory. She took Grant's pass, and her first touch allowed her to guide the ball past defenders and get the ball past the keeper. Then against the Gunners, she placed the ball in enough space for her to place the shot in the upper 90.
It has been a good showing from Villa across multiple fronts. With only two matches remaining and some monthly award announcements potentially around the corner, they could be able to further showcase this team's growth.
