Atalanta are not having the best of luck with injuries this winter, as January signing Daniel Maldini has picked up a muscular issue and is now expected to miss around three weeks of action according to the initial reports.
The son of Milan legend Paolo Maldini joined La Dea from Monza in the January transfer window for a fee of €13m, and came on for his Atalanta debut in the second half of the 1-0 loss to Bologna in the Coppa Italia quarter-final on Tuesday, but is now set for a spell on the sidelines.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 23-year-old went for medical tests on Sunday morning, which has revealed a muscular injury to the adductor in his left leg.
The injury is expected to keep Maldini out for at least 20 days according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, which means that he is set to miss out both legs of the Champions League play-off round fixture against Club Brugge, plus Serie A matches against Cagliari and Empoli.
Atalanta are already without goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, defenders Odilon Kossounou and Sead Kolasinac, plus star forward Ademola Lookman.

To add insult to injury – or rather, to add injury to injury – Both Giorgio Scalvini and Gianluca Scamacca returned from cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in December and January, but have picked up injuries to their shoulder and hamstring respectively, and are both due for another extended spell on the sidelines as a result.
