Atlanta United have announced midfielder Emerson Hyndman will miss four-to-six weeks due to a right quadriceps injury.
Hyndman played 17 minutes of the Five Stripes' 2-1 defeat to the New York Red Bulls last Thursday before being left off the roster for Sunday's 2-2 draw with NYCFC.
Atlanta United confirmed Hyndman sustained the injury during training, with the timeline suggesting it happened between those two matches in New York. It's another setback for ex-Bournemouth midfielder Hyndman, who only recently fully recovered from an ACL tear.
This is just the latest in a long line of injury blows for Atlanta United, with head coach Gonzalo Pineda already dealing with the long-term absences of Brad Guzan, Miles Robinson, Ozzie Alonso, and Dylan Castanheira.
Full-backs Brooks Lennon, Andrew Gutman, and Ronald Hernandez are also sidelined while, at various points of the season, Atlanta have been without the likes of Josef Martinez, Luiz Araujo, Santiago Sosa, and Franco Ibarra.
Atlanta United are 11th in the Eastern Conference following their 2-2 draw with reigning MLS Cup champions NYCFC, five points adrift of the Playoff spots but with at least one game in hand on a number of the teams above them.
Pineda's side host Austin FC on Saturday.
