Atlético de Madrid have announced that captain Koke has extended his contract with the club.
Koke is the Colchoneros’ record appearance holder with 626 games under his belt, and the 32-year-old’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season.
But the Spain international midfielder has now extended his deal for a further year, with the option for an annual renewal again at the end of next season.
Koke joined Atleti as a six-year-old and made his senior debut against Sevilla in September 2009.
He is also one of the club’s most successful ever players, winning two league titles, one Copa del Rey, two Europa Leagues, two European Super Cups and one Spanish Super Cup in the red and white shirt.
