Atlético Madrid set sights on signature of Udinese star | OneFootball

The brass at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have identified a member of the midfield ranks at Udinese as a potential future signing.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Italian transfer insider Alfredo Pedullà, who point towards Martín Payero as the player in question.

Payero, for his part, has spent the last couple of seasons establishing himself as a key figure in the engine room ranks at the aforementioned Udinese.

After racking up 29 Serie A appearances in 2023/24, the Argentine had since managed a further nine this term, prior to being struck down by an injury back in November.

Payero, who can line out in a variety of roles in midfield, has long been hailed in Italy for his technical and personal attributes alike.

And it is precisely such gifts which are understood to have piqued the attentions of the transfer team at the aforementioned Atlético Madrid.

As per MD:

‘In recent days, Atlético de Madrid and Napoli have asked for information’ on a potential deal for Payero.

The Rojiblancos are not expected to launch an assault on the player’s signature this month, but could do so in the summer transfer window.
