La Liga high-flyers Atlético Madrid will be forced to make do with a leading member of the club’s midfield ranks for their next outing.

This comes owing to developments in the club’s meeting with Villarreal.

Atlético Madrid were back in action a short time ago, welcoming Marcelino’s Villarreal to the Spanish capital for a league clash.

When all was said and done, the Rojiblancos were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, after Gerard Moreno’s opener was cancelled out by Samuel Lino.

And, as alluded to above, their two points dropped represented far from the only concern for Diego Simeone’s side on Saturday.

This comes with Rodrigo De Paul having also picked up a suspension.

Argentine international De Paul featured off the bench against Villarreal, introduced for Conor Gallagher at the interval in proceedings.

The 30-year-old, though, was shown a yellow card, his fifth of the La Liga campaign.

This means that De Paul is facing up to a one-game ban, to be served when Atléti play host to Mallorca on Saturday, February 1st.
