Atletico Madrid are set to part ways with multiple defenders this summer, with the likes of Mario Hermoso, Stefan Savic and Javi Galan all set for exits. One player whose future is in no doubt is Nahuel Molina, despite a very disappointing 2023-24 season.

Molina was dropped on several occasions by Diego Simeone, with Marcos Llorente and Cesar Azpilicueta often replacing him. A new right-wing back is projected to join in the coming weeks, but despite this, Atleti still consider the Argentine to be an indispensable player, as reported by Marca.

Molina – who is wanted by new Napoli manager Antoine Conte – is trusted by Simeone, despite being benched on the regular throughout last season. There is a confidence that he can return to his previous level, especially if a suitable backup is acquired.

Atletico Madrid are in a comfortable position with Molina, whose release clause is very high. They are under no pressure to sell either, as his current contract is set to run until the end of the 2026-27 season.
