Atlético Madrid star to miss Real Sociedad meeting through suspension | OneFootball

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid will be without a key member of the club’s frontline for their upcoming meeting with Real Sociedad.

This comes owing to developments in the club’s most recent outing.

Atlético marked their return to action on Saturday afternoon, making the trip to Mendizorroza for a La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés.

When all was said and done, Diego Simeone’s troops were held to a share of the spoils, owing to a disappointing goalless draw.

As alluded to above, though, the eventual outcome in the clash was not the only source of concern for the visitors earlier today.

In addition, Atléti saw star frontman Julián Alvarez pick up a suspension.

The Argentine was initially shown a straight red card at Mendizorroza, only for VAR intervention to see as much overturned, and Alvarez instead shown a yellow.

His fifth of the league campaign, though, the World Cup winner will nevertheless be forced to sit out against Real Sociedad next weekend owing to an accumulation of bookings.
