Like last season, you can vote on the AS Monaco App for the best Red and White player in each official match. The voting, which started a few moments after the final whistle of this first match against Stade de Reims (2-2) collected 603 votes. And this is a unique first since its creation: two players were elected MVP, each with 31% of the vote.
The first is Axel Disasi, the new defender of AS Monaco who came back to haunt his former teammates. When the Red and Whites were down 2-0, the former Stade de Reims player hit a header into the top corner to allow his team to regain hope just before half-time. It was an important goal since ASM would equalize in the second period, and could even have won at the last second on a header … again from Axel Disasi. The No. 20 was also second among all players in the game in touches (138).
The second was one of the Club’s most experienced players on the pitch yesterday: Aleksandr Golovin. AS Monaco’s Russian midfielder was directly involved in both Red and White goals. On the first, he delivered the ball onto the head of Aurélien Tchouaméni who played it on for Axel Disasi to pull a goal back. On the second, he delivered the free kick which brought the equalizer from Benoît Badiashile. Close to opening the scoring himself early in the game, Aleksandr Golovin was also the AS Monaco player who has the most shots on goal (4 times).
