Doohan has made only two appearances for Aberdeen since arriving from English League Two side Forest Green Rovers in the summer.

Doohan spent seven years at Celtic

The 26 year-old spent seven years with the Scottish champions between 2015 to 2022, but had seven loan spells during that period. Eventually, Doohan signed permanently for Tranmere Rovers two years ago from the Hoops.

During Brendan Rodgers’ first managerial reign in Glasgow’s East End, Ross Doohan was loaned out to Scottish Championship clubs Greenock Morton and Ayr United.

Aberdeen winless in three, with one win in five

Meanwhile, Jimmy Thelin’s side have now won one game from their last five in all competitions. Winless in three Scottish Premiership matches, draws to struggling Edinburgh clubs Hibernian and Hearts as well as a 2-1 defeat in Paisley to St Mirren means Celtic can go seven clear of Aberdeen on Wednesday evening with a game to spare.

Celtic have 37 points from 39 dropping two against Aberdeen

Brendan Rodgers’ side have accumulated 37 points from a possible 39 and remain unbeaten domestically so far this campaign following a thumping 5-0 victory versus Ross County over the weekend. A tricky trip to the Granite City awaits against the Hoops’ closest title challengers.

Speaking post-match in Gorgie, Swedish boss Jimmy Thelin provided an update on Aberdeen’s goalkeeping situation ahead of their clash against Celtic tomorrow evening.

Thelin’s post match comments

He said, as reported by Daily Record: “Let’s see tomorrow, we need to make a real check on him first, but he couldn’t keep playing so we needed to change him.”

“I want them to see exactly what it is first before I say something. Let’s see, but the good thing was Ross [Doohan] came in and did really well, and he looked really prepared, so we have a good squad.”
