Baligone – Leon Balogun Says an Emotional Farewell to Rangers

Well… this one hits hard. Leon Balogun has today personally confirmed his departure from Rangers in an emotional social media post—and it’s safe to say fans weren’t ready.

Let’s be absolutely clear: this wasn’t the club making a grand announcement or sending him off with a proper tribute. No, this was Balogun himself stepping up, showing class, and breaking the news to the supporters he clearly loves. A man with dignity, professionalism, and a deep connection to Ibrox—left to make his own goodbye.

And what a goodbye it was.

“If I would have known that the last two games of the season were my last for the club, I would have made sure to say goodbye to all of you accordingly. Unfortunately, I wasn’t afforded that opportunity, which saddens me.”

That one line tells you everything. He didn’t know. He didn’t get the send-off. And that’s a disgrace.

Balogun was never flashy. He wasn’t here to make headlines. But what he gave Rangers, twice over, was heart, composure, and a quiet leadership that so many around him lacked. He was part of 55. He got it. And even when brought back last summer as a supposed “backup”, he ended up being more consistent than half the defence put together.

He stepped up when others went missing. He never complained. He just got on with it—and gave his all.

Yet here we are, watching him walk away, not even knowing it was his last game. No applause. No proper goodbye. Just another name moving on while others, with far less professionalism, remain.

Leon Balogun deserved better.

He leaves with his head high and the full respect of the Ibrox support. And in a time where leadership is thin and identity is fragile, Rangers have just lost a man who represented both.

We’ll miss him.
