Iker Rodriguez trains with first-team players again

On the eve of the match, Hansi Flick called up talented La Masia goalkeeper Iker Rodriguez to train again with the first-team players, reports Victor Navarro.

Rodriguez, 16, is training with the senior team for the second day in a row, with Flick and his coaching staff keeping a close watch on his development.

The Spanish shot-stopper is currently a part of the Juvenil B setup, and has been tipped for a bright future by those who have been watching his development closely.

This season, the 16-year-old has made nine appearances with Juvenil B and has been called up four times for Juvenil A, featuring in one match.

Rodriguez is already a starter for the Spanish Under-17 national team, for whom he has four appearances thus far.

Rodriguez signed his first professional contract with Barcelona in June last year and is seen as someone who can grow into a future first-team goalkeeper for the Blaugrana.

It remains to be seen if there is any chance that the teenager gets called up to the squad for tomorrow’s clash against Alaves, having now trained for two days in a row under Flick’s commands.
