Barcelona came from two goals down to draw 3-3 with Inter in a breathless UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Lamine Yamal was the catalyst for the hosts’ response, scoring one and playing a key role in the equaliser, while Denzel Dumfries starred for the visitors with two goals and an assist.

The result sets up a tantalising second leg at San Siro next Tuesday, with everything still to play for in the tie.

As it happened

Inter silenced the home crowd just 30 seconds into the match when Marcus Thuram produced a sensational flick to finish off a Dumfries cross — the fastest goal ever scored in a Champions League semi-final. Things got even better for the visitors 20 minutes later, when Denzel Dumfries fired home a volley at the back post following Acerbi’s knockdown from a corner.

But Barcelona responded emphatically. Lamine Yamal curled a superb finish in off the far post to reduce the deficit before combining with Raphinha to spark a flowing move that ended with Ferran Torres firing home the equaliser just before the break.

The second half brought more drama. Dumfries grabbed his second with a towering header from Calhanoglu’s corner in the 64th minute, only for Barça to hit back immediately. Raphinha’s thundering effort bounced off the underside of the bar and in via Yann Sommer, officially recorded as an own goal.

There were chances for both sides to snatch a winner late on, most notably when Yamal struck the bar with an attempted cross and Raphinha forced a fine stop from Sommer in stoppage time. But neither could find a decisive fourth goal, and the tie remains level ahead of next week’s decisive return in Milan.
