In a recent report, Sport has mentioned that Barcelona are keeping tabs on Flamengo defender Natan, who is currently playing on loan at Red Bull Bragantino. However, the Brazilian youngster’s current contract with Flamengo has a €70m release clause which could make it difficult for the Catalans to land him (via Sport).

Natan’s Incredible Rise In Brazilian Football

Natan is one of Brazilian football’s brightest young talents and has shown a lot of promise after coming through the youth ranks of Flamengo. The promising centre-back has already made 16 senior appearances for his boyhood club, finding the back of the net once in the process across all fronts.

The Brazilian prospect had an impressive spell with Flamengo in the previous campaign when he averaged 0.8 tackles, 2.0 interceptions, 2.5 clearances and 0.6 shots per game in the Brazilian Serie A. He also excelled at distributing the ball out from defence after completing 90.4% of his attempted passes in league football last season (stats via whoscored).

Based on how well Natan has progressed in recent years, Barca should be optimistic that they could get the best out of the player if they manage to bring him to the Nou Camp when the transfer window reopens later this summer.

What Are The Brazilian Whizkid’s Best Attributes?

Standing at 1.88m, Natan is a towering presence inside his half and can win his fair share of 50-50 duels by overpowering the opposition in the air. He can react to the danger quickly and can make a lot of ground to clear his lines when required.

The Brazilian starlet is a powerful runner with the ball and can keep possession ticking under pressure which makes him such a great fit for Barca’s brand of football at the Nou Camp. Natan is also a natural leader and would add a lot of quality to Barcelona’s La Masia.

Is Natan A Prospect For The Future?

The Brazilian wonderkid is undoubtedly a prospect to look out for in the future, so the Catalans will do well to get him on board in the summer. Natan has the makings of a top talent and possesses all the skillset required to become a future starter at Catalonia.

Furthermore, the South American centre-half might even prove himself as a good long-term successor to Gerard Pique who is in the twilight years of his playing career. Natan is a star in the making and could go on to have a very promising career in European football.
