Despite announcing the renewals of star players such as Ronald Araujo, Pedri and Gavi this year, Barcelona are far from done.
The club are actively working on the renewal of other star players in the team, including Frenkie de Jong.
In a significant development, it appears the club have made a breakthrough in their bid to renew the contract of Robert Lewandowski.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have reached a fresh agreement with Lewandowski over a new contract.
The club, in fact, have closed the agreement with the Polish forward, who is all set to renew his contract at Barça for another year.
Lewandowski’s current deal expires at the end of the season. But the new deal could see him remain at Camp Nou until 2026.

The report adds that the deal was in place even before Lewandowski had played 50% of the matches this season – a key clause that was embedded in the contract.
That being said, there is no option to extend the contract for another year, which was something that was widely reported in the media.
That means Barcelona cannot automatically extend Lewandowski’s contract until 2027 without reaching an agreement with the player for the same.
Nevertheless, Barcelona’s conviction and effort to renew the contract of Lewandowski despite his age is indicative of the impact the Pole has had.
This season, for one, the veteran forward has racked up 31 goals in 33 competitive matches. And it appears he is not looking to stop anytime soon, having already rejected advances from Saudi Arabian clubs in his bid to continue at Barça.
