Barcelona are contemplating the potential departure of Ansu Fati in the January transfer window, reports Luis Miguelsanz through SPORT.

It is said that the club is open to receiving offers for the player, provided they adhere to the 1:1 rule, meaning they must also secure a replacement for him.

The hopes surrounding Ansu have been significant, with both the club and coach Hansi Flick seeing this season as a crucial opportunity for the young player to showcase his talents.

However, he remained in the squad during the summer transfer window because there were no compelling offers, and Barcelona could not find another forward to bring in.

Last in the order

Currently, Ansu is the last choice among the attacking options at Barcelona, and his participation in matches has been minimal. To date, he has accumulated only 28 minutes of playing time across all competitions.

Given the upcoming fixtures in October, it seems likely that he will continue to find it difficult to secure a place in the starting lineup.

Barcelona believe that the best course of action would be to loan Ansu out to another team, allowing him to gain valuable minutes. However, this move is contingent upon the club adhering to the aforementioned 1:1 rule.

No offers last summer

During the previous summer transfer window, there were discussions about potential moves for Ansu, with his agent, Jorge Mendes, exploring various options.

Despite this, no financially viable proposals materialized that satisfied all parties involved. The club decided to retain him, mainly due to the challenge of finding a suitable winger while navigating salary cap constraints.

To explore possible solutions, a meeting is already scheduled between Barcelona and Mendes to discuss Ansu’s future. Several clubs in Spain have expressed interest in acquiring him on loan, but the final decision will ultimately rest with the player himself.

Barcelona plan to wait until November to make a definitive decision regarding Fati’s future, considering both sporting and financial factors.

Hansi Flick is wary of losing players during the season without having the ability to bring in replacements through the winter transfer window.
