La Liga giants Barcelona have not yet ruled out the signing of Athletic Club star Nico Williams.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have this week provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

The name of wide-man Williams, of course, took its place front and centre in the media headlines throughout the recently-closed transfer window.

This came with the 22-year-old’s continued excellence for club and country alike having sparked widespread interest in his signature.

Barcelona, for one, pushed hard to bring Nico in for much of the summer, eager to unite the Spanish international with close friend Lamine Yamal.

In the end, the talented attacker opted to stay put, rewarded for his commitment with Athletic Club’s no.10 jersey.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the Nico-Barcelona transfer saga may not have come to a definitive close just yet.

As per a report from Sport, a renewed push for the signature of the Euro 2024 winner remains on the table for the Camp Nou brass in the summer of 2025.

This will hinge centrally on one factor – ‘that the economic conditions of the operation are not modified (both his termination clause and his contractual conditions)’.
