According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barcelona Ronald Araújo has given the green light to join Juventus this month, so the Bianconeri are now pushing for a loan move with his club.

Juventus have targeted Barcelona’s defender Araújo as a January reinforcement in defence, and according to Gazzetta, the Uruguay international has already agreed to join Juventus this month.

Araújo has a Spanish passport, so he’s eligible for a move to Juventus even if the Bianconeri have no more room for non-EU players this season.

According to Gazzetta, negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing. Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli hopes to convince Barcelona to loan the player out this month.

Juventus will need two new defenders in January as Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal are out for the rest of the season with knee injuries, while Danilo has been frozen out of the team and didn’t even join the squad in Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana.

According to Gazzetta, coach Thiago Motta hopes to get the first reinforcement by the end of next week. Araujo has been struggling to get playing time in Barcelona, so Juventus hope for quick negotiations with Barcelona.

Ideally, Feyenoord’s David Hancko will be the second reinforcement, but the Dutch side value the 27-year-old at €30m, so talks between the two clubs are expected to last longer.
