FC Barcelona have clearly been one of the best teams in this edition of the UEFA Champions League and they showed their superiority once again as they faced SL Benfica in the Round of 16 of the competition, which they won 4-1 on aggregate.
With this win, the Catalans are now going to play in the quarter-finals of the competition, where they will face Borussia Dortmund, while also being one of the favorites to win La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
With the way they have been playing so far this season, no one can bet against them winning all of these trophies.
Several Barcelona players have expressed their belief in their ability to win every major title, and the latest to do so was the young defender Pau Cubarsi.
Appearing in an interview with club’s official media (h/t Mundo Deportivo), the centre-back highlighted what his team needs to do to win all these titles:
“Yes, now the season truly begins, I would say, because this is the key moment where everything is at stake. We have to be 100% focused, and we are still alive in every competition. We have to keep going like this. We are in good form, so we hope to continue.”
“Yes. As I’ve said, we are still alive in every competition. We have to take it game by game, stay calm, but if we keep doing things well as we have been, we can compete for titles.”
The La Masia graduate was also not too afraid of facing Real Madrid in a potential UCL final:
“Yes, Madrid always does things well. We are also doing well, and I think we could meet them in a final because they are a great team, and so are we, so it would be a great final to watch. But yes, Atlético is also in La Liga and can be competitive as well.”
“Yes, of course, I would sign for it. If we do a great job, we can reach the final. And if we make it to the final, we will give it our all, no matter the opponent. And if it’s Madrid, it would be a beautiful final for us and for everyone.”
There is no doubt that most Barcelona fans will be looking forward to such a final, especially after having gotten the better of the Merengues in the Spanish Super Cup final and in the last league tie. But there is still quite a long road ahead for both these teams, and as Cubarsi highlighted, the Blaugranes will have to take one game at a time.
