Barcelona are gunning for the signing of Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old defender has already confirmed that he will not be renewing his contract and will be on the move once it runs down on June 30.
Barcelona have been working on a deal to bring Tah in for some time now, but are facing intense competition.
There has been interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as well as Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Speaking in an interview with BILD (h/t Fabrizio Romano) today, Tah has issued a key update on his future and his next destination.
The German international confirmed that he has not made a decision on his new club yet and refused to set a fixed date to do so. However, he also stated that he would do so soon and not delay the final call.

“I’ll make a decision on my new club soon,” said Tah.
“I don’t want to set a date. But it won’t be in two months,” he added.
Despite Tah’s statement, previous reports have suggested that he already has a verbal agreement with Barcelona.
However, with the club’s complicated Financial Fair Play situation, coupled with the existing defensive reserves, the agreement has not moved forward towards being made official yet.
Amidst all this, Bayern Munich are also making a concrete push to secure the central defender’s signing in the summer.
So, Barcelona will need to move swiftly to close the deal if they are indeed serious about their interest in bringing Tah to the club in the summer.
