Pau Víctor was one of the most impressive players in the FC Barcelona team in the last pre-season tour of the USA. The Spaniard got abundant playing time during that trip and also scored some goals against the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.
However, game time has been rather limited for him since the start of the regular season, and he is one of the players with the lowest number of minutes played on the pitch this season.
Still, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona are not considering a departure for the young striker, and the player himself has not even considered leaving the Catalan club in this winter transfer window.
Hansi Flick sees the striker as another player in his squad, who can play a role in the team when his services are needed. Therefore, the Blaugranes did not even consider a departure for him when Real Betis showed some interest in his signing.
But there is no doubt that he is not really high in Hansi Flick’s pecking order. This is quite clear from the fact that in the last 8 games, he has played only a total of 18 minutes.
Víctor remained an unused substitute in the last two games of 2024 against Leganes and Atletico Madrid. After the turn of the year, he was unable to participate in the Copa del Rey game against UD Barbastro and the Spanish Super Cup tie against Athletic Club because his license and registration were revoked by La Liga and RFEF.
Then, against Real Madrid, he again did not get the opportunity to step on the pitch despite the advantage his side enjoyed in the second half. He reappeared on the pitch in the ensuing game against Real Betis in the Copa del Rey, but it was only for the last 18 minutes when Barcelona were already winning the game with a 4-0 scoreline.
Following that appearance, he again returned to obscurity with no minutes against Getafe or Benfica. For Flick, he is not a replacement for Lewandowski, as the German has used Dani Olmo and even Fermin Lopez at times for this role. Thus, Pau Víctor has played mostly as a left-winger the times he has been on the pitch this season.
