All associated with La Liga giants Barcelona have on Thursday been sent a message, regarding incoming goalkeeper signing Wojciech Szczęsny.
This, of course, comes as the Pole prepares to put pen to paper on terms at the Camp Nou.
After no.1 Marc-André ter Stegen was this week struck down by a serious knee injury, the Barcelona board quickly set about sourcing a replacement through the free agent market.
And it did not take long for the name of Szczęsny to emerge at the very front of the queue.
Still just 34, and fresh off a season which saw him play a leading role for one of the continent’s leading clubs in Juventus, the shot-stopper has understandably been identified as the best option on the market.
According to widespread sources, Szczęsny is expected to touch down in Catalunya’s capital over the days ahead, before penning a contract with Hansi Flick’s troops through the close of the campaign.
And one individual of the opinion that Barcelona will be landing for themselves a top goalkeeper in the process, comes in the form of fellow countryman Jerzy Dudek.
Speaking in an interview with Goal Poland, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, one-time Real Madrid man Dudek began:
“It would be a good option [for Barcelona]. I already talked about it when Juventus told me they weren’t counting on him for this season.”
From here, Dudek went on to reveal his opinion that, though Ter Stegen may be better with his feet, Szczęsny actually represents an overall superior option ‘in goal’:
“Sportingly, he would fit in, even though he is a very different goalkeeper to Ter Stegen, who is very good with his feet. Now, Barça’s style of play is different. Ter Stegen plays better with his feet, but Szczesny is superior in goal.”
