With little more than a week remaining before the transfer market slams to a shut, Barcelona have stepped up their efforts to offload unwanted stars in the team.

The Catalans are in talks with Atletico Madrid over Clement Lenglet’s loan deal, while Vitor Roque’s exit is also in the works.

Barcelona have also reached an agreement with Ilkay Gundogan over his departure. And in an attempt to further trim the squad, Barça are looking to sanction the sale of Ferran Torres.

Ferran Torres pays no heed to Newcastle

A recent report suggested that Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Torres, even preparing a lucrative offer for the Barcelona frontman.

However, as per MARCA, Ferran Torres has paid no heed to Newcastle’s interest. The Spaniard doesn’t know the club properly and has no desire to join the Magpies this summer.

The report further points out that Ferran has received no offer from Newcastle United. Even if the Premier League outfit come up with a bid, the forward has no intention of entertaining it.

Ferran’s only goal is to continue at Barcelona and try and establish himself as a vital cog in the club’s offensive unit.

The former Man City star is also confident that he can receive regular game-time this season, despite the recent signing of Dani Olmo.

Flick values Ferran’s traits

Ferran is further motivated by the fact that new coach Hansi Flick has been impressed by his performances so far.

More importantly, the German tactician highly values the commitment, passion and ambition shown by the Spanish international.

Flick believes these qualities could make a handy option to have in attack next season. However, the Catalans are also facing immense pressure to reduce their wage bill and Ferran’s departure, to that end, could go a long way in solving that problem.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for Barcelona frontman this summer.
