FC Barcelona and Real Madrid played out a highly entertaining El Clásico yesterday, which saw a total of 7 goals scored in 90 minutes plus injury time. Ultimately, it was the Blaugranes who emerged as the winners with a 4-3 scoreline.
The forward Ferran Torres was one of the main protagonists for the Catalans in this game. Although he was unable to get his name on the scoresheet, he still got a hat-trick of assists to his name.
He could very well have piled more misery on the Merengues, as one of his shots hit Aurelien Tchouameni on the arm. In one of the more controversial refereeing decisions from this game, Hernandez Hernandez decided not to award a penalty for this action after consulting the VAR.
Ultimately, this decision did not end up hurting Barcelona as they emerged victorious. However, Torres was not quick to forget this perceived injustice, as he hinted at a disagreement with the referee after the match.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spaniard shared an image of this incident where the ball can be seen hitting the Frenchman’s arm. Although this image was not accompanied by any words, Torres still put in an emoji of a thinking face, implying his surprise at the referee’s decision.

As already reported, this decision generated a lot of controversy, not only within the game but also after the game had ended. In this latter aspect, the VAR audios released led to a lot of concern among Barcelona fans, as the VAR in charge, Martinez Munuera, can be heard saying: “We don’t have many more powerful cameras.”
This was despite the fact that the television broadcast of the game had shown this incident from up to five different angles.
Anyway, the match ended in delight for Ferran Torres and Barcelona, as this win puts them seven points clear of Real Madrid in the La Liga race, with only 3 matches left to be played.
