Barcelona have a plethora of young talents coming through the ranks at La Masia with many of them tipped for a bright future at the first-team level.

One such player is young midfield talent Pau Prim, who has long been regarded as a future first-team player for Barça.

However, the 18-year-old pivot midfielder could be staring at an uncertain future at the club, with his contract situation leading to complications.

Pau Prim forced out due to non-renewal

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have frozen Pau Prim out of the Barça Atletic squad due to the lack of progress in talks over his contract renewal.

The teenage La Masia gem’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2025 and so far the player and his camp have refused to sign an extension. If the situation is not resolved, the midfield talent could leave for free in the summer.

As Barça Atletic prepare for a crucial match against league leaders Cultural Leonesa, Prim, who has been a regular starter and played nearly every available minute this season, has been excluded from the squad for non-sporting reasons.

Barcelona have refrained from providing an official explanation for the youngster’s absence, and Prim’s representatives have remained silent. However, reliable sources have confirmed that the decision is not due to sporting issues.

Interestingly, Pau Prim shares the same representatives as former La Masia ace Marc Guiu, another player who failed to reach a renewal agreement with Barcelona and left for Chelsea last year.

This situation raises the possibility that Pau Prim could also leave Barcelona in the near future.
