Dutch giants Ajax are exploring a loan move for Barcelona winger Ansu Fati, a report has revealed, with the Spanish side hoping to finalise a deal to fund their pursuit of Manchester United's Marcus Rashford.

Barcelona are Rashford's preferred destination but Hansi Flick's side simply do not have the salary space needed to sign the Englishman even if he agrees to take a cut on his wages, which are worth in excess of £325,000 per week.

Fati wants to stay at Barcelona but is on the fringes of Flick's side. The Catalans hope to see the winger's £200,000-a-week wages removed from the books before the transfer deadline, not least because it would give their hopes of signing Rashford a significant boost.

De Telegraaf state Fati is under consideration by Ajax, who are looking at a number of potential winger options.

Barcelona are open to offers for Fati, even if a loan move would see them continue to contribute to the 22-year-old's salary.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph state Barcelona and United have held "tentative" negotiations over Rashford, with the Red Devils still skeptical of Barcelona's ability to afford such a deal. Reports have suggested the Spanish side have already struck an agreement over personal terms with Rashford.

Rashford and his representatives see Barcelona as their only viable option at this stage in the transfer window, wary that a collapse in negotiations could see him stuck out in the cold outside Ruben Amorim's squad.
