Barca, it is understood, are continuing to give consideration to dipping into the market this winter.

Despite the excellent start to the campaign being enjoyed by Hansi Flick’s troops, the ongoing injury problems in Catalunya’s capital have forced sporting director Deco and his team to seek out potential market opportunities.

In particular, the Portuguese has his sights on possible reinforcements in the middle of the park.

With Marc Bernal sidelined long-term, Frenkie de Jong continuing to struggle for fitness, Pedri a constant injury risk and Gavi yet to return to the pitch since suffering an ACL tear last year, those in the boardroom at the Camp Nou are of the opinion that Flick’s squad is somewhat short on midfield options.

And, as per a report from Sport, this has led Deco and co. to look towards England, and specifically west London:

‘Barça have been keeping an eye on possible opportunities for January, with their eyes set, basically, on Chelsea. The London club has plenty of players and there will be loans for sure.’

On the radar of the Blaugrana are up-and-coming pair Romeo Lavia and Carney Chukwuemeka, both held in high regard by the sporting department in Catalunya.

January loan approaches are in turn being considered for the out-of-favour Blues duo, albeit with Hansi Flick, as things stand, more inclined to lean on La Masia in the case of fresh injury woes in his ranks.
