Fiorentina full-back Dodo, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks, has been hospitalised with appendicitis according to reports in Italy, but the Brazilian is in good spirits and has joked with fans: ‘For someone who returned from a cruciate in four months, appendicitis is nothing’.

Fiorentina general manager Alessandro Ferrari told Sky Sport Italia that Dodo is in hospital for mandatory checks after being diagnosed with appendicitis. It remains to be seen whether he will require surgery, or whether he will be able to recover with alternative treatment without going under the knife.
