Barcelona are racing against time in their bid to register star summer signing, Dani Olmo, with La Liga before the end of the year.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder was only registered for the first half of the season in the summer by using the salary space created by Andreas Christensen’s long-term injury-enforced absence.
As such, Olmo, along with fellow summer arrival Pau Victor, needs to be re-registered for the second half of the season by December 31.
However, as reported already there is still a shortfall of €60 million to return to the 1:1 Fair Play rule, which would allow the registration of the Spanish international.
Barcelona have ruled out the possibility of using a financial guarantee, like they did in the past to cover this gap, and are exploring other avenues.
As revealed by Barcelona president Joan Laporta this week, the Catalans will face La Liga in the Commercial Court No. 10 in Barcelona on Monday, 23 December.

The club have filed a precautionary measure seeking to register Olmo, even temporarily similar to what was done with Gavi in the past.
And, according to Jijantes FC, Miquel Olmo, the Barcelona star’s father, and Ramon Valencia, a lawyer specialising in sports law, met the club officials at the training facilities yesterday to discuss the registration process.
Miquel Olmo also happens to be the director of the agency which represents the Barcelona attacking midfielder. Meanwhile, Ramon Valencia has been advising the player legally for years.
While Barcelona have until the last day of the year to register Olmo, the case is expected to be resolved by Friday, 27 December, if an agreement is not reached during the hearing set by the judge.
However, sources at the club have suggested that alternative options are being explored if the matter is not resolved in court.
In addition to the Nike contract and the sale of stakes in Barça Vision, the club are considering the possibility of using long-term absentee Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s salary space to get Olmo registered.
