This is bad news for Barcelona, especially considering their vulnerable position in La Liga as they currently sit ten points behind Real Madrid. While they do have a game in hand, the Catalan giants will need to win it in order to stay even slightly competitive in the league.

However, without Pedri’s help, things become a lot more complicated. Easily one of the most in-form players across European football right now, Pedri is often the heart and soul of this team when it comes to generating chances for his teammates and dictating the tempo of the game.

Unfortunately, if he is indeed left out of the squad list for the game, Barcelona will be without both Dani Olmo and Pedri for this encounter. That would mean that rotations would need to take place either way, and Hansi Flick’s original game plan could end up suffering as a result as well.
