Barcelona pair credited with a ‘midfield masterclass’ vs Atlético | OneFootball

Two members of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday been credited with nothing short of a masterclass performance.

The pair in question? Pedri, and Frenkie de Jong.

Both Pedri and De Jong featured from the off this evening, as Barcelona welcomed Atlético Madrid to Catalunya’s capital for a Copa del Rey semi-final clash.

And, en route to a staggering 4-4 thriller, both players absolutely shone in the middle of the park.

Pedri was in irresistible form, dominating every aspect of the midfield battle courtesy of brilliant dribbling, defence-splitting passing, and relentless work rate.

And alongside him, De Jong continued his remarkable recent upturn in form.

The Dutchman was the man responsible for keeping everything ticking over at the base of Barca’s engine room, whilst also excelling in his defensive duties.

The mood will no doubt be a sombre one amongst the Blaugrana’s fans after watching their side surrender a two-goal advantage this evening, but solace can at least be taken in the absolute excellence of their side’s midfield stars.
