La Liga giants Barcelona have on Monday provided an an early recovery timeline for midfield starlet Marc Bernal.
This comes after the Spaniard underwent surgery on his left knee early this morning.
Youngster Bernal is for his part of course in the midst of an altogether difficult couple of weeks.
After something of a dream start to the campaign, culminating in a trio of successive first-team starts for Hansi Flick’s Barca, the 17-year-old suffered an untimely injury setback.
Forced into a premature departure from the Blaugrana’s 2-1 downing of Rayo Vallecano, Bernal was subsequently confirmed to have torn the ACL in his left knee.
After a prolonged wait for the exact right moment to perform surgery, the medical team in Catalunya’s capital, on Monday, carried out precisely as much.
And, as confirmed in a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms, the procedure proved to be a complete ‘success’.
Also no doubt of interest to the Barca faithful is an insight into Bernal’s predicted return to the pitch, with it concluded that:
‘His estimated recovery time is 12 months.’
