Barcelona are reportedly making Newcastle United striker and rumoured Arsenal transfer target Alexander Isak one of their priorities.

The talented Sweden international is really enjoying his football at the moment, scoring ten goals and providing two assists in his last nine games in all competitions.

If Isak keeps playing like this, it’s surely going to be very difficult for Newcastle to keep hold of him, and we’ve heard plenty about interest from Arsenal recently.

A report from Mundo Deportivo mentions the Gunners, though they also claim that Barca are making him one of their top targets over the likes of Viktor Gyokeres as they look for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Isak looks like a player with the world at his feet right now, and it will be interesting to see if he personally favours Arsenal or Barcelona as his next club.

A recent report from Football Insider described Isak as a “key target” for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who has been quoted by the Metro as calling the 25-year-old a “top player”.

Isak previously played in La Liga with Real Sociedad, so he may be keen to go back there after this spell in English football.

At the same time, though, Isak has really launched his career in the Premier League, so might do well to stay in the league if possible.

Arsenal also look like a particularly good fit for Isak, who would surely become a focal point in Arteta’s side, which currently lacks a proper number 9.

AFC may be just one or two signings away now from becoming the real deal in terms of challenging for the biggest trophies, though Barcelona are always there or thereabouts.

It could be a tough choice for Isak, but there’s also Newcastle to consider here, and they would surely rather sell abroad than to a rival.
