The emergence of Wojciech Szczesny as Barcelona’s number-one goalkeeper has been one of the biggest highlights for Barcelona this year.
The veteran goalkeeper has moved ahead of Inaki Pena in the pecking order and is currently the club’s first-choice goalkeeper until Marc-Andre ter Stegen returns to full fitness.
However, there is much uncertainty over Barcelona’s goalkeeping position, especially with Szczesny having his contract expire at the end of the season.
With both Szczesny and Pena facing an uncertain future at Barcelona, the return of ter Stegen becomes a crucial factor for the club.
To that end, a recent report from Diario SPORT has offered an update on ter Stegen, claiming that the goalkeeper is indeed recovering well.

The German international is working hard on his fitness, trying to get back to action as soon as possible.
However, ter Stegen doesn’t want to put any pressure on himself nor give any false hopes to Barcelona.
In any case, April has been set as the ideal return date for ter Stegen, although it is unlikely the German will be immediately pushed right into action.
Ter Stegen’s return, nonetheless, will serve as a major relief for Barcelona as it would not only put pressure on Szczesny but also add more depth to the goalkeeping unit.
One thing is for sure – the German international’s recovery process is going strong and the player could return to action sooner than expected. Whether or not ter Stegen will make his much-awaited return in April remains to be seen.
