FC Barcelona reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2018-19 season as they beat Borussia Dortmund 5-3 on aggregate.

There is no doubt that this achievement will bring a lot of prestige to the Catalan side and also keep their hopes of winning the treble alive.

But in addition to the prestige and sporting benefits, this advancement to the semi-finals of the competition also brings a lot of financial gain for the Blaugrana club.

Mundo Deportivo has provided some insights on how much money Barcelona can earn from this achievement and how much more money they can end up earning from the Champions League this season.

The Catalans got €15 million only for reaching the penultimate round of the competition, but in total, the Blaugrana club have earned €116.563 million from this edition of the European tournament, a figure only slightly less than the €117.730 million they earned when they reached the semis back in 2019.

In addition to prize money for winning the league phase and knockout games, Barcelona have also earned €7 million for accumulating more points than expected in the first phase of the competition.

Even if the Blaugrana side is unable to reach the finals, they will easily break their previous revenue record from the UCL, as they will increase their market pool. Keeping in view the concept of the ‘value pillar’, the Catalans have already earned €22.44 million from this edition of the competition, a figure that will further increase when everything is computed at the end of the season.

On the other hand, according to the 10-year coefficients, Barcelona started this UCL campaign with a fixed fee of €11.41 million, a figure below only Real Madrid (€12.45 million), Bayern Munich (€12.10 million), and Manchester City (€11.76 million).

Their earning from the competition can increase even further, as UEFA promises €18.5 million for each finalist, another €6.5 million for the winner, €4 million for UEFA Super Cup contestants, and another €1 million for the winner of the Super Cup.

Thus, Barcelona will be looking to go as far as possible in the UCL, especially keeping in view the financial problems they have been facing for the last few years.
