In recent news from SPORT, it seems that Xavi Simons is moving further away from Barcelona’s grasp each day and this shift is primarily due to Bayern Munich making a substantial offer to Paris Saint-Germain, totalling a whopping €90 million.

The outlet suggests that Bayern Munich are serious about acquiring Xavi. The Bavarian club has proposed a hefty fee, which would make him the second most expensive player in Bayern Munich’s history, just behind the €95 million they paid for Harry Kane.

Although Simons was once linked to Barcelona, such a high price tag effectively ends any realistic chance of him joining the Spanish club.

Bayern are a fan

It must be noted that the midfielder has had an impressive season with RB Leipzig, and his performances have not gone unnoticed by Bayern Munich. Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, acknowledged this by saying,

“He is a very good player. He played a very good Euro Cup and last year he had a great season in the Bundesliga with Leipzig. He has developed very well in recent years.”

Reports now indicate that PSG have decided to put Simons up for sale, with a price tag of around €70 million and Bayern Munich are ready to make a significant effort to secure his transfer.

There is a blessing for Barcelona here

Interestingly, Xavi’s situation could indirectly affect Barcelona in another way. Bayern Munich are also interested in Dani Olmo, and it seems unlikely that the club would pursue two major signings in one summer.

It is clear that Barcelona have a strong interest in Xavi, but the situation is far from simple. Even though he does not wish to remain at PSG, Barcelona are not in a position to compete with other clubs that can offer higher bids.

With multiple clubs showing interest, PSG will undoubtedly negotiate with the highest bidder, putting Barcelona at a disadvantage.

As it stands, the midfielder’s future seems destined to be away from both PSG and Barcelona, with Bayern Munich emerging as the front-runner in the race to sign this promising young talent.

The coming weeks will reveal more about where Simons will continue his career, but it is clear that Bayern Munich are making a strong case for his transfer.
