In this regard, Mundo Deportivo reports that one player that is being linked strongly with the Catalans is the Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, whose contract with the Gunners is ending at the end of this season, and thus, he can arrive at Barcelona for free this summer.

The report cites Caught Offside to claim that the Blaugranes have shown a ‘concrete interest’ in the 31-year-old midfielder, as he can provide a lot of strength, muscle, and experience in the middle of the pitch.

In regards to experience, in addition to his overall time spent playing at the highest level, including in the Premier League, his stints with three La Liga teams, i.e., Atletico Madrid, Mallorca, and Almeria, will be particularly attractive for Barcelona.

However, even with his contract expiring, getting him will not really be easy for the Catalans. This is particularly the case as another big European club, Juventus, is also interested in signing him, and is also following him quite closely.

Meanwhile, Arsenal themselves are willing to give him a new contract to keep him in Mikel Arteta’s team, of which he has been an important part this season.

Up to now, the Ghanaian midfielder has appeared in 24 out of the 25 that the London side has played in the Premier League, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists. Similarly, he has played all the 8 games, starting 7, played by his side in the UEFA Champions League, and helped them clinch the third position in the League Phase table.

Thus, he will be quite a good addition to this Barcelona squad, and with his contract expiring this summer, it would make a lot of sense for the Blaugranes to make a move for him.
