Barcelona sporting director breaks silence on priority target: “I want him to come, but he does not”

Barcelona’s transfer window so far has been far from ideal. The club have failed to achieve any of the pre-transfer window expectations they had placed, be it in the form of arrivals or departures.

Pau Victor and Dani Olmo have been the only additions the Blaugrana have managed to pull off so far, while no significant player has left. Now, Ilkay Gundogan appears close to the exit door and could shockingly leave for free.

Deco’s interesting interaction

A lot has been said about Barcelona’s sporting director Deco over the largely failed transfer window so far, especially considering that the club failed to meet most of the desired objectives.

Recently, a fan interacted with Deco about the club’s market issues and his responses were interesting, to say the least as revealed by Victor Navarro.

“Will Nico come?” the fan began, asking a question supporters across the globe are still contemplating.

“I want him to come, but he doesn’t want to,” Deco replied, virtually closing the door to the Athletic Club star’s arrival this summer.

The sporting director was then asked if anyone else would be signed this summer or Dani Olmo was the final arrival of the transfer window, to which the official simply replied, “Yes.”

Far more than appears to the eye

It is clear at this point that a lot is going on at the club administration than appears to the eye, for Barcelona’s situation is clearly not as rosy as initially painted.

The club, despite all the rumours, is yet to receive sponsorship from Nike, far from the 1:1 rule and struggling to register new signings.

In fact, it is blatantly obvious that the departures of Julian Araujo, Mikayil Faye and Gundogan are only being engineered so as to register the new signings in what can only be described as a shambolic situation.

Joan Laporta’s second stint at the club is progressively getting worse with decisions that are difficult to justify. The ongoing transfer window could well go down as one of the most disastrous periods in Barcelona’s history.
